Why we love

Follow the Voie Verte, the former P'tit Rouillat railway line. Walk between vineyards, small woods and crops before returning to the Nouère in the charming village of Gouthiers.

Your itinerary

Asnières-sur-Nouere

Step 1

Start from the washhouse located behind the church placed under the protection of Saint-Martin.

Step 2

Take the road again to pass in front of the shops. Then, take the road to the right in the direction of “Chez Veau”. After 200 m, take the “chemin des Vignes” on the left.

Step 3

Continue straight in the direction of “Troquerauds” between vineyards and shade. Cross the pretty bridge that spans the Nouère, and lean over to admire this corner of greenery and the small washhouse.

Step 4

Arrive on the RD53 and admire the magnificent traditional Charentais gate opposite. Carefully follow this road for about 200m to the right.

Step 5

Take the 1st road on the left, - old P'tit Rouillat railway line.
At the crossroads of “La Croix Caillé” cross the RD119 and continue straight. Before turning left, you can stop at the old Douzat station on the right, for a well-deserved rest. Walking between cultivated fields, vineyards and small woods, you can see the village of Nouère and its dwelling on the left.

At Champ Rosier, turn immediately left to catch up with the road.
At the bridle, cross the roads to take the path below and join the RD53, which runs along the course of the Nouère river from afar. Follow it to the 1st crossroads, being very careful.

Step 6

Head left towards Gouthiers. Take advantage of the freshness of this charming village bathed by the Nouère. Cross the bridge and turn left into rue du Moulin which leads to the top of the village.

Step 7

Before turning, see on the left the dovecote below and 100 m off course the wash house.
Take rue des Pierrières to go up towards Le Pessaud.
After the Combe de Jean, turn left, go down, then turn right on the grassy path that you follow to the village of Asnières, in the shade of the trees. You emerge before the small bridge which spans the Rodin stream.
Return to the church and the car park.
