Departing from Touvre, this circuit has great heritage discoveries in store for you, such as the hermitage of Bragette, the castles of Dirac and La Tranchade and numerous washhouses in a preserved natural setting.
Your itinerary

Step 1
Head towards the town hall overlooking the parking lot. Take Rue des Gauchons before the level crossing. Leave it after 200m to take the Chemin des Vignes on the left.

Step 2
After the tunnel, follow the path to the right parallel to the railway line at the start, and climb for 800 m, ignoring two trailheads.

Step 3
At the top of the hill, turn right to take Chemin des Chaumes which descends to Rue des Gauchons after crossing the railway line.

Move left. Pass the place called les Varennes. At the next intersection, take Rue des Varennes on the left which then turns right then immediately Route de Trotte-Renard on the left. Continue to the next fork.

Leave it to follow the chemin des Écureuils on the right. Turn left before the quarries. Climb towards the hamlet of Trotte-Renard. Leave the hamlet by the path that goes to the right.

In the descent, go left into the wood. Follow the white path at the edge of the wood which runs alongside the quarry for about 700 m.

In the valley, leave the white path for the beautiful path lined with maple trees on the right which goes up towards the hamlet of Peu Sec.

Go left into the village, then turn left again. Continue straight for 1km passing in front of the Bournis home.

Turn left on the RD 106, then right 200 m. Continue straight until the village of Grand Arsac.

At the crossroads, turn right into Impasse du Grand Arsac, cross the woods, go up towards Chemin de la Fauconnière and cross Bas Arsac.

Cross to take the path opposite that runs alongside the old mill. Cross the reach of the Échelle and continue straight up to the old tile factory of Denat.

Very carefully cross the RD 4, go to the right and immediately take the route des tuileries de Lacroix.
Turn left after the houses and climb towards the village of Bragette – see the hermitage of Bragette, birthplace of Doctor Bouillaud on the left.

At the crossroads, take the Bragette road on the left, ignore the next crossroads and continue to the white path on the right. Pass in front of the hunters' house, turn right at the bottom of the path and arrive at the RD939.

Cross carefully on the pedestrian crossing and enter the village of Le Boisseau.

For 1km, ignore the path that goes to the left then the one to the right and climb towards the village of Puyrajoux.
At the end of the wood, take the village road to the left. At the T-junction, continue to the right and go down.

In the bend, go down to the left in the small path. Follow the road to the ponds to the left and cross to take the path on the right before the washhouse – Château de Dirac on the left.
Pass the nascent Anguienne, continue the path to the RD101.

Step 17
Carefully follow the road to the left. In the bend, go up to the right in the wood. After 100m, turn right.
The circuit meets the GR4 and 36 and their routes will be common to Touvre.
Join the hamlet of Moulin Barret. Turn left at the corner of the building before the RD101.

Step 18
At 200m, make a round trip to see the Barret mill and La Tranchade washhouses in the left path.
Return to the path that climbs to the right towards Garat – don't miss the view of the Château de la Tranchade.

Cross very carefully. Continue rue de Ladoux – see on the right at the beginning of the street the statuette, remains of the disappeared church of Saint-Catherine.
At the intersection, turn left on chemin de l'écrevisse. Continue straight for 1km.

Turn right before the road. At 400, lead right onto the road and immediately turn right on the bend.
Go down to the Paul Gauguin road. Follow it to the right for 50m before taking the white path on the left.
Continue straight on for 500m – at the junction of the path which goes up to the left, see on the right the wash house of Font Belle.

Step 21
Arrived at Petit Grelet, go up to the left. Continue straight until the 3rd crossing, to follow the path on the right which descends towards Touvre.
Cross the D23 and continue opposite to the Pontil road. Turn right to reach the town hall car park.
Do not leave without seeing the sources of the Touvre, second resurgence of France.
